Too hard in winter, too soft in summer – that’s the perennial problem butter users face; but with their temperature controlled butter dish the ButterWizard the design team at GX Group managed to solve the problem.
Based on an idea brought to them by entrepreneur, David Alfille, the ButterWizard drew on the product design team’s expertise in electronics by developing a mini electrical fridge which could keep the butter at a consistent temperature.
The butter itself sits in a removable tray, whilst the base has a small fan installed along with a thermo-electric cooler. The team reversed the cooler so that when necessary it would cool the butter, for example during the summer months; whilst during winter it would it prevent the butter going too hard by keeping the temperature at a consistent 18°c.
“Sometimes it’s the simplest of ideas that generate great products,” notes managing director of GX Group, Mark Helmich. “Sales in butter have increased over the past five years as consumers ditch spreadables in search of flavour. Yet how and where you keep your butter can lead to frustrations, the ButterWizard plugs in to a normal electric socket ensuing your butter stays at the perfect temperature for spreading. We were delighted to see the ButterWizard recently featured by The Daily Mail Online and still very much in demand."
